...GUSTY NORTHERLY WINDS TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING ALONG
KNIK ARM, NORTH TO WEST ANCHORAGE, AND NORTHWESTERN KENAI
PENINSULA...

Northerly winds will gradually strengthen late this afternoon
through tonight and peak during the day Sunday before slowly
diminishing Sunday night through Monday. Wind gusts of 35 to 45
mph are likely, though there may be a few stronger gusts on JBER.
The areas most likely to see winds include the portions of Chugiak
and Birchwood west of the Parks Highway, JBER and Government
Hill, Downtown Anchorage and all of west Anchorage. For the rest
of Anchorage and Eagle River, winds will be much lighter. Winds
along the Kenai Peninsula will be strongest to the west, gusting
35 to 45 mph from Kenai to the coast, including Nikiski. Winds
along the Sterling Highway from Anchor Point to Clam Gulch will be
similarly gusty.

As winds ramp up, the light and powdery snow on the ground will
easily blow around, leading to reduced visibility at times along
area roads. Plan ahead and prepare by securing loose items,
adjusting travel plans as necessary, and monitoring the forecast
for any updates.
