...FLOOD ADVISORY FOR AN ICE JAM IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM AKDT MONDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam is expected. * WHERE...the Anchor River near Anchor Point Road downstream of the Sterling Highway And The Anchor River State Recreation Area. * WHEN...Until 900 AM AKDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways is possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 855 AM AKDT, river gauge reports indicate rises in water levels from an ice jam on the Anchor River near Anchor Point Road downstream of the Sterling Highway and the Anchor River State Recreation Area. Impounding water due to the ice jam will cause rapid river rises upstream. - For Anchor River at Old Sterling Highway: At 5:26am the stage was 15.8 feet. Flood Stage is 15.5 feet. Impacts: - At 15.5 feet: Water starts to flood Anchor Point State Recreation area and Campground downstream of the New Sterling Highway Bridge. - At 16.0 feet: Anchor Point Road near the Old Sterling Highway Floods with 6-8 inches of water.
