...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR THE NORTHEASTERN CITY OF CHESAPEAKE, THE EASTERN CITY OF
NORFOLK AND THE CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH...

At 751 PM EDT, the public reported North Pine Grove Rd flooded.
Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall
rate is 1 to 1.5 inches in 30 minutes. Additional rainfall amounts
of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Public reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Virginia Beach, Kempsville, Regent University, Virginia Wesleyan
University, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Princess Anne, Norfolk
International, Princess Anne Plaza, Gallups Corner, London Bridge,
Oceana NAS, Bayside, Oceana, Macons Corner, Mount Pleasant,
Greenbrier, Pungo, Rudee Heights and North Virginia Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the
following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates,
Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western
Currituck and southeast Virginia, including the following areas,
Chesapeake, Greensville, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James
City, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk,
Surry, Sussex, Virginia Beach and York.

* WHEN...Until 2 AM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Areas of moderate to locally heavy rainfall are likely this
afternoon into tonight. Rainfall totals of 2-4" of possible
which could cause flash flooding in poor drainage areas.
