...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM EDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.

* WHERE...East Central Monroe County in western New York...

* WHEN...Until 945 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of Irondequoit Creek and other low-lying and
flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. This will include
Ellison Park, with water levels possibly effecting Blossom Road.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 946 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Flooding is expected on Irondequoit Creek in the
warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.5 inches are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Irondequoit, East Rochester, Fairport, Brighton and Penfield.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
