...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Saint Charles County in east central Missouri... Northern Saint Louis County in east central Missouri... * WHEN...Until 430 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 129 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... O'Fallon, St. Charles, St. Peters, Florissant, Chesterfield, Wildwood, Wentzville, Maryland Heights, Hazelwood, Ferguson, Lake St. Louis, St. Ann, Bridgeton, Dardenne Prairie, Bellefontaine Neighbors, Berkeley and Black Jack. ...EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON SUNDAY TO MIDNIGHT CDT THURSDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to around 110 expected. * WHERE...In Illinois, Madison IL, Monroe IL, and Saint Clair IL Counties. In Missouri, Jefferson MO, Saint Charles MO, Saint Louis City MO, and Saint Louis MO Counties. * WHEN...From noon Sunday to midnight CDT Thursday Night. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
