...WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING... A strong cold front will approach and move through the Quad State area this afternoon and evening. Ahead of the front, south winds will gust to around 35 mph with a few gusts possibly reaching 40 mph at times. A line of showers and a few thunderstorms will also pass through with the cold front, which may produce brief higher wind gusts. Behind the front, winds will quickly shift to the west, then northwest with gusts to 35 mph possible through or just after midnight. Temperatures will also drop quickly behind the cold front this evening and overnight. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, such as holiday yard decorations, this afternoon and evening.
