...CAUTIOUS TRAVEL IS ADVISED FOR REDUCED VISIBILITY AND QUICK SNOW ACCUMULATION ON ROADWAYS THIS EVENING... WEATHER... * Several lake effect snow bands from just north of the I-69 corridor down to the I-96/I-696 corridor will move through the area during the next few hours. * Lake effect snow showers will produce varying snowfall accumulation. Potential for the heaviest activity to bring accumulations up to an inch. * West winds around 10-15 mph gusting to 25 mph. * Air temperatures will range between 11 and 19 degrees with wind chills of -5 to 5 degrees. IMPACTS... * Moderate snow will cause reductions of visibility to 1 mile or less. There may be rapid fluctuations of visibility. * Accumulating snow may lead to slippery roads particularly on bridges, exit ramps and overpasses. && PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...; * Reduced visibilities along with snow covered and slippery roads; will cause variable traffic rates. ...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM FRIDAY TO 10 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 15 to 25 below zero expected. * WHERE...All of southeast Michigan. * WHEN...From 1 AM Friday to 10 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The coldest conditions are expected between 4 AM and 10 AM Friday morning as well as 9 PM and 5 AM Friday night. Wind chills will remain well below zero through the day Friday and into Saturday morning. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly.
