...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Louisiana, including the following parishes,
Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Evangeline, Lafayette, Northern
Acadia, Northern Calcasieu, Northern Jefferson Davis, Rapides,
Southern Acadia, Southern Calcasieu, Southern Jefferson Davis, St.
Landry, Upper St. Martin, Upper Vermilion and Vernon and southeast
Texas, including the following areas, Hardin, Lower Jefferson,
Northern Jasper, Northern Newton, Northern Orange, Southern
Jasper, Southern Newton, Southern Orange, Tyler and Upper
Jefferson.

* WHEN...From Thursday afternoon through Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A storm system will slowly move through the region Thursday
into Friday. Widespread rainfall of 1 to 5 inches is possible
with the potential for 5 to 9 inches locally. Southeast Texas
north of I-10 into south-central Louisiana has the highest
probability of seeing these higher totals. This will fall on
already saturated soils and with ongoing flooding and or
elevated water ways. Rainfall rates with the strongest
showers and storms will be in excess of 2 inches in one hour.

Another round of showers and storms will be possible later
Friday into Saturday, but confidence is too low to include in
the watch at this time.

forecast.

* WHERE...Calcasieu River near Oberlin.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:15 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 16.4 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:15 AM CDT Wednesday was 16.6 feet.
- Forecast...The river will fall to 16.0 feet early tomorrow
afternoon. It will then rise to 16.3 feet Friday evening. It
will fall to 16.1 feet Saturday evening then rise again.
- Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING UNTIL FURTHER
NOTICE...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Calcasieu River near Oakdale.

* WHEN...From this evening until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Minor lowland flooding, mainly forested
areas along the river will occur. Park and picnic ground off of
Highway 10 begins to flood.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 16.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise to flood stage this
eveningtomorrow morning. It will then fall to 16.5 feet
Friday morning. It will then rise above flood stage again
Saturday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Calcasieu River near Kinder.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, If gage reading at Kinder reaches 18 feet,
flooding begins to cut off some of the roads around Topsy in
Northwest Jefferson Davis Parish.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:15 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 17.5 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:15 AM CDT Wednesday was 17.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise to 17.8 feet tomorrow morning.
It will then fall Friday morning. It will rise to 18.0 feet
Saturday evening. It will then fall again but remain above
flood stage.
- Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
