For the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values 105 to 109 possible. * WHERE...Anderson, Coffey, Douglas, Franklin, Osage, and Shawnee Counties. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, from 1 PM Saturday to 9 PM CDT Sunday. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from Sunday evening through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles.
