...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. * WHERE...Portions of northeast Illinois, including the following counties, Cook, Kankakee and Will and northwest Indiana, including the following counties, Lake IN and Porter. * WHEN...Until 600 PM CST. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 111 PM CST, Doppler radar and rainfall reports indicate that up to three inches of rain has fallen since this morning across the advisory area. Another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected later this afternoon which will bring additional rainfall to the area and may continue to produce localized flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hammond, Gary, Portage, Merrillville, Valparaiso, Chicago Heights, Schererville, Hobart, Kankakee, Crown Point, Highland, Munster, Park Forest, Bourbonnais, Bradley, Chesterton, Cedar Lake, Steger, Lowell and Manteno. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For the Storm Warning, west winds to 55 kt and significant waves to 16 ft occasionally to 21 ft expected. * WHERE...Calumet Harbor IL to Michigan City IN. * WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until 3 PM CST this afternoon. For the Storm Warning, from 6 PM this evening to 3 PM CST Monday. * IMPACTS...Low visibility will make navigation difficult. Storm force winds and hazardous waves will capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 3 PM CST MONDAY... * WHAT...West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph expected, except 30 to 45 mph with gusts of 50 to 65 mph expected near Lake Michigan. * WHERE...Porter County. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 3 PM CST Monday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Near Lake Michigan winds could down large branches, result in power outages, and make driving of high profile vehicles dangerous on move north south oriented roads. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This wind advisory will likely be upgraded to a high wind warning today due to the expectation of damaging winds occurring near Lake Michigan tonight into Monday morning especially.
