At 1255 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm,
capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was
located near Westhampton Beach, moving northeast at 40 knots.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until this storm passes.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, including the following
areas, Northern Fairfield, Northern Middlesex, Northern New Haven,
Northern New London, Southern Fairfield, Southern Middlesex,
Southern New Haven and Southern New London, northeast New Jersey,
including the following areas, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Passaic,
Western Bergen and Western Passaic, and southeast New York,
including the following areas, Northern Westchester, Orange,
Putnam, Rockland and Southern Westchester.

* WHEN...Through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Additional rainfall of 1-2 inches is expected through this
evening. Locally higher amounts around possible where heavier
rain bands set up. With the ground already saturated in many
areas and river and stream levels running high, a flood
threat exists across the area. Heavier rainfall rates may
also lead to localized instances of flash flooding. in urban
and poor drainage areas.
