...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM MST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Arizona, including the following counties, northeastern Cochise, southern Graham and southern Greenlee. * WHEN...Until 1100 PM MST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry washes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 759 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Between 0.75 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen across a broad area including portions of the San Simon and Upper Gila valleys which will lead to small stream flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Safford, Thatcher, Solomon, San Jose, Bowie, Roper Lake State Park, Safford Regional Airport, Pima, Duncan, Central, Fort Thomas, Franklin, Swift Trail Junction, Frye Mesa Dam, Mount Graham, Fort Grant, Bonita, San Simon and Klondyke. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... South Central Graham County in southeastern Arizona... * Until 945 PM MST. * At 652 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing between 1.00 and 1.50 inches of heavy rain near the junction of Highway 191 and 266 to the south of Safford. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, especially along drainages that drain into Stockton Wash. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... ...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM FRIDAY TO 8 PM MST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 110 expected. * WHERE...Baboquivari Mountains, South Central Pinal County, Southeast Pinal County, Tohono O'odham Nation, Tucson Metro Area, Upper Gila River Valley, Upper San Pedro River Valley, Upper Santa Cruz River Valley/Altar Valley, and Western Pima County. * WHEN...From 10 AM Friday to 8 PM MST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
