IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Hoover, Alabaster, Pelham, Helena, Calera, Chelsea, Montevallo, Columbiana, Indian Springs Village, Wilton, American Village, Oak Mountain State Park, Maylene, Oak Mountain Amphitheater, University Of Montevallo, Shelby County Airport, Lay Lake, Shelby, Joe Tucker Park, and Highway 145 and CR 46. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen based on radar estimates. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 107. * WHERE...Autauga, Bibb, Chilton, Dallas, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lowndes, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stoke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
