...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT WHARTON...SOUTHEASTERN AUSTIN... JACKSON...SOUTHERN FORT BEND...WESTERN BRAZORIA AND MATAGORDA COUNTIES THROUGH 215 AM CDT... At 108 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Beasley to 10 miles south of Pierce to near Inez. Movement was southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Matagorda, western Rosenberg, Bay City, El Campo, Wharton, Edna, Palacios, West Columbia, Sweeny, South Texas Nuclear Plant, Brazoria, Needville, East Bernard, Ganado, Holiday Lakes, Pleak, Fairchilds, Point Comfort, western Bailey's Prairie, and Beasley. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency.
