Thursday morning and afternoon snowfall is expected to be heavy and may cause traffic problems.; What happens?: A snowfall area is moving into central Sweden on New Year's Day. It starts from the west in Värmland, Dalarna and Härjedalen during the night and reaches other parts during the morning. In several places it is expected to be heavy and can give 7-12 cm by the afternoon, the most in the eastern parts. Locally up to 15 cm. In the afternoon the snowfall will decrease, starting from the south. In the southernmost parts there may then be elements of rain. In northern Dalarna and into southern Norrland the snowfall will continue.; What should I think about?: Travel times may increase due to slippery roads, poor visibility and blowing snow behind vehicles. Allow more time for your journey and adjust your speed to road conditions and visibility.

The snowfall starts already in the morning, but it looks like it will be heavy at times from late morning. It will also continue into the night and into Friday at about the same intensity. At the same time, it will be windy at times with fresh to strong gusts, initially from the southeast, but increasingly turning to the northeast. There is some uncertainty about how much rain there may be, especially in the eastern part, there may be quite a lot of rain. It may not be so windy in the southern part of the warning. Total snow amounts until Friday evening are expected to be 2-4 dm of snow, locally perhaps more.; What should I think about?: Consider not going out in traffic or be prepared that there is a risk of getting stuck. Road conditions may be poor due to drifting snow, slippery roads, poor visibility and blowing snow behind vehicles.
