Starting on Christmas Eve, large amounts of rain will fall on cold roads, causing ice and slippery conditions, and will continue until late evening. This is mainly true in low-lying areas. In high-lying areas, it is possible that it will fall as snow instead.; What happens?: On the night of Christmas Day, areas with snowfall and heavy rain will move in from the west, mainly over the mountainous regions. In mainly low-lying terrain, larger amounts of rain will fall on cold road surfaces and are expected to freeze to ice on the roads, resulting in slippery conditions.
