...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Puerto Rico * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Shower and thunderstorm activity is forecast to continue developing today, especially during the afternoon, affecting affected areas. Most of the river and stream continues running with high values and soils are saturated. An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.1 occured about miles northwest of St Thomas at about 2:59 AM AST. The earthquake has been reported as felt lightly/moderately in portions of PR and the northern Virgin Islands. Given the reported intensity of the earthquake it is believed there is no tsunami threat for Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands. Continue to monitor your favorite news source for more information.
