...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM AKST MONDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...The following area, Western Kenai Peninsula including the Sterling Highway and the towns of Soldotna, Anchor Point and surrounding areas. * WHEN...Until 900 AM AKST Monday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. River or stream flows are elevated. Significant runoff may cause flooding of creeks and rivers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 154 PM AKST, rainfall was beginning to move into the western Kenai Peninsula, including Soldotna, Anchor Point and surrounding areas. Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, up to 2.5 inches, can be expected to fall through the weekend, causing rapid rises on area streams, with flooding possible along roadways, and in areas with poor drainage. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Storm drains should be kept clear of debris as much as possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...The following areas, Anchorage, East Turnagain Arm, Matanuska Valley, Northeast Prince William Sound, Southeast Prince William Sound, Susitna Valley, Western Kenai Peninsula and Western Prince William Sound. This includes the cities of Anchorage, Eagle River, Indian, Eklutna, Girdwood, Portage, Palmer, Wasilla, Sutton, Chickaloon, Kenai, Soldotna, Homer, Cooper Landing, Whittier, Seward, Moose Pass, Valdez, Thompson Pass, Cordova, Talkeetna, And Willow. * WHEN...Through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Frozen ground combined with excessive runoff may result in flooding of roadways, urban areas, low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Widespread periods of heavy rain are still expected to overspread southcentral Alaska starting Friday evening and continuing through Monday morning. - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood - If you live near or along low lying or flood prone areas, stay alert and be prepared to take action. - Storm drains should be kept clear of debris as much as possible.
