Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Portage and Whittier. * WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 PM AKST Monday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Steady snowfall will begin this evening and intensify Monday morning. A period of heavy snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour is likely on Monday morning. Some mixing with rain is possible at times, especially near Whittier. The highest snowfall totals of up to 20 inches are likely over Portage Valley. Snow will taper off by Monday evening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
