...FLOOD WATCH FOR AN ICE JAM ON THE BUCKLAND RIVER IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues to be possible. * WHERE...Including the following area, Northern Seward Peninsula along the Buckland River. * WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Water backing up behind the ice jam along with snowmelt in the region will result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Local reports from Buckland indicated an ice jam on the Buckland River above the community of Buckland. As of late Friday morning water was already over some roads and the river levels are slowly rising. In addition lakes are bankfull in the region. Because this ice jam is upriver, flood potential could become more significant when the jam releases. - Http://www.weather.gov/aprfc - If you live near or along the Buckland River stay alert and be prepared to take action. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.
