Small Craft Advisory
Issued: 6:30 AM Mar. 17, 2026 – National Weather Service
...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CHST
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Seas 9 to 12 feet.

* WHERE...Marianas Coastal Waters.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Recent altimetry passes reveal combined sea
heights around 11 to 12 feet to the west of Marianas coastal
waters. Seas remain elevated due to large north to northwest
swell from a low pressure system east of Japan as well as
northeast swell from a strong Kona Low north-northwest of
Hawai'i. Sea heights are gradually relaxing. Seas may fall
below levels hazardous to small craft (10 feet) on Wednesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller
vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions.

Coastal Flood Watch
Issued: 6:01 AM Mar. 17, 2026 – National Weather Service
...COASTAL FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON...
...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON...
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CHST
WEDNESDAY...
...HIGH SURF WARNING WILL EXPIRE AT 4 PM CHST THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 10 to 12 feet. Dangerous rip
currents. Possible coastal inundation along northern shorelines
especially during high tides. Reduced wave heights have allowed
for the High Surf Warning to expire.

* WHERE...For High Surf Advisory and Coastal flood Watch along
North reefs and shore and for the High Risk of Rip Currents
north and east facing reefs of Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...A few roads may be closed. Low lying property may be
inundated. Some shoreline erosion may occur. Breaking waves can
sweep people off jetties and docks, and into dangerous seas.
Life-threatening swimming conditions and significant beach
erosion can be expected. Rip currents can sweep even the best
swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Long period NNW swell from a low pressure
system near Japan and long-period NE swell from a Kona Low
northwest of Hawai'i continue to produce hazardous surf and a
high risk of rip currents along north and east facing reefs.
Hazardous surf of at least 9 feet along north reefs will
continue through at least Wednesday afternoon. Surf has already
fallen below hazardous levels of 9 feet along west and 12 feet
along east facing reefs. Coastal inundation along northern
shorelines of 1 to 2 feet is possible through Wednesday
afternoon especially during high tide.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers
should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against
the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline.
If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
