Rain is expected in many places in Latvia this week, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall. Low-lying areas may be flooded, and water levels in rivers and other water bodies are expected to rise. In the river basins of eastern Latvia, the soil has been significantly wetter than normal for an extended period, so the additional rainfall will lead to a more pronounced rise in river levels. As a result, floodplains and fields are likely to be more extensively flooded. Water levels are also expected to rise in central Latvia due to the heavy rainfall. BE AWARE of the potentially flood-prone areas! The environment is already overly humid, water is accumulating in the fields and in the lower depressions, low-lying areas on the banks of water bodies are flooded.
