However 20.07.2025 by day intensive heat is expected only in Kurzeme - air temperature will increase up to +27º. BE AWARE of intensive heat! Heat causes additional stress on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Elderly people, infants, as well as representatives of other age groups suffering from chronic diseases are exposed to the risk of health problems! During intense heat, more than usual, people choose to relax by the water, which increases the potential risk of accidents. An overheated person should not walk quickly into cold water! A sudden change in temperature can cause heart rhythm disturbances and sudden death. Do not be presumptuous and evaluate your swimming skills! By midday, the UV index will reach medium to high levels, so it is not recommended to stay in direct sunlight for long periods of time.

In the river basins of eastern Latvia, the soil has been significantly wetter than normal for an extended period. In some areas rain and thunderstorms are expected in the coming days, which may cause flooding in low-lying areas, as well as rising water levels in water bodies. BE AWARE of the potentially flood-prone areas!  The environment is already overly humid, water is accumulating in the fields and in the lower depressions,  low-lying areas on the banks of water bodies are flooded. Caution should be exercised when moving in flood-prone areas.
