...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM AKST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Snow accumulation 4 to 8 inches. Locally higher amounts in higher elevations and in Portage Valley. Periods of reduced visibility. * WHERE...East Turnagain Arm, including the Seward Highway, Girdwood, and Portage. * WHEN...Until 6 AM AKST Friday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel may be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday afternoon and Friday morning commutes. Reduced visibility at times in heavier snow bands. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow will continue to accumulate through the evening into the overnight hours before tapering off late overnight into Friday morning. Heavy snow at times may reduce visibilities to under a mile, with moments of near whiteout conditions possible. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
