FIRE WARNING AT THE REQUEST OF AMARILLO AREA OFFICE OF EMERGENCY
MANAGEMENT FOR SOUTHERN POTTER COUNTY.

* AT 454 PM CDT...A DANGEROUS WILDFIRE WAS LOCATED 6 MILES NORTHEAST
OF BUSHLAND...OR 9 MILES NORTHWEST OF AMARILLO...MOVING RAPIDLY
NORTHEAST AT 5 TO 10 MPH.

* AREAS IMPACTED... BISHOP HILLS, WILDCAT BLUFF, AND OTHER
LOCATIONS NORTHEAST OF TASCOSA ROAD

* ADDITIONAL INFORMATION...SMOKE AND FIRE WILL PRESENT A THREAT TO
LIFE AND PROPERTY.

...WIND ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM CDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.  Cold
front will push through from 8 PM through 1 AM.  Post frontal
north winds 20 to 30 mph gusting up to 50 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of the Panhandle of Oklahoma and the Panhandle of
Texas.

* WHEN...Until 2 AM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Blowing dust continues to be an issue with
these winds and there may be periods of low to near zero
visibility.  Dust products will be issued for these areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Eastern Potter County in the Panhandle of Texas...
Southwestern Roberts County in the Panhandle of Texas...

* Until 630 PM CDT.

* At 422 PM CDT, a dust channel was over Mescalero Park, or near
Canyon, moving northeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Less than one mile visibility with strong wind in excess
of 40 mph.

SOURCE...Satellite Imagery.

IMPACT...Hazardous travel.

This plume of dust is orginating near Canyon and spreading to the
northeast past Borger. Major impacted roads includ borth I-40 and I-
27.

Locations impacted include...
Amarillo, Pampa, Canyon, Borger, Panhandle, Fritch, Stinnett, White
Deer, Lake Tanglewood, Skellytown, Sanford, Buffalo Lake, Washburn,
Umbarger, Mescalero Park, Timbercreek Canyon, and Pantex.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving
conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in
dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep
your foot off the brake.

FOR WINDY AND VERY DRY CONDITIONS FOR THE TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA
PANHANDLES...

* WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 4 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...In the 90s to around 100.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will have the potential to
spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* SEVERITY...

FUELS (ERC)...90th+ percentile...5 (out of 5).

WEATHER...Extreme...4 (out of 5).

FIRE ENVIRONMENT...9 (out of 10).

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Occassional gusts out of the southwest
around 40 kts will be possible at times this afternoon and
evening.
