...FLOOD WARNING FOR SNOWMELT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM AKDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt continues. * WHERE...Koyukuk. * WHEN...Until 1000 PM AKDT Monday. * IMPACTS...High water may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 940 AM AKDT, high water from Yukon River snowmelt has resulted in flooding in the community of Koyukuk. As of Monday morning water levels were finally starting to decline. The stream gauge at Galena shows water levels continuing to drop. Koyukuk should expect water levels to continue falling as well. This warning will expire this evening as no further flood threat is expected. - The Yukon River gage at Galena is reporting 123.1 feet as of 700 AM AKDT Monday May 18th. - Http://www.weather.gov/aprfc PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... This includes the cities of Galena, Nulato, Kaltag, and Koyukuk. * WHEN...Through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...High water may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Public reports continued minor flooding in the region. High water and heavy ice runs along the Yukon River and Koyukuk River will result in continued possible minor flooding impacts in Galena and Koyukuk. River Watch reports the Yukon River breakup front has moved past Grayling. The Yukon River gage at Galena is reporting 123.7 feet as of 330 PM AKDT Sunday May 17th which is in the action stage flooding category. - Http://www.weather.gov/aprfc PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
