...EXTREME COLD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT
THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...For the High Wind Warning, northwest winds 30 to 40 mph
with gusts up to 60 mph expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch,
dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central and west central Iowa, including
portions of Interstate 80.

* WHEN...For the High Wind Warning, until 11 PM CST this evening.
For the Extreme Cold Watch, from late Thursday night through
Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles. The dangerously cold wind
chills as low as 35 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed
skin in as little as 10 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and
avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution
if you must drive.

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.
