For the Cold Weather Advisory, dangerously cold temperatures as low as 5 below expected. * WHERE...City and Borough of Yakutat. * WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, until noon AKST Monday. For the Cold Weather Advisory, from noon Monday to noon AKST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The coldest windchill temperatures will be farther inland away from maritime influence. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Wear protective clothing such as a hat, facemask and heavy gloves or mittens if you have plans to be outdoors. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in- ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing. &&

...HEAVY FREEZING SPRAY CONTINUES... Sustained northeast winds of strong gale force are likely impacting Disenchantment Bay, with gale force for most of Yakutat Bay, bringing concerns for heavy freezing spray. Winds will diminish through Monday, with the threat of heavy freezing spray decreasing by Monday evening.
