...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM AKDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Heavy wet snow. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 to 60 mph. * WHERE...Ketchikan Gateway Borough and Annette Island. * WHEN...Until 7 PM AKDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Strong winds could cause tree damage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...As of 11am, reports across the area show a mixture of snow and rain with snow having a hard time accumulating. Over the next couple of hours, precipitation rates will increase as the front pushes northward. As rates increase, forecasting bring change over to predominately heavy wet snow before changing over to rain through early Sunday evening. Main forecast challenge will be the timing of this change over and the resulting snowfall accumulations. Greatest accumulations at elevation. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. People are urged to prepare their property before the onset of winter weather. ...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 1 AM AKDT MONDAY... * WHAT...Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. * WHERE...Annette Island. * WHEN...From 4 PM Sunday to 1 AM AKDT Monday. * IMPACTS...High winds will blow around unsecured objects and may damage property and cause power outages. Travel by land, sea, or air will be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds will increase Sunday morning with gusts of 40 to 50 mph leading up to and following the High Wind Warning.
