...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 106. * WHERE...Portions of central, eastern, north central, and western Arkansas. * WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. At 129 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles southwest of Dillen, or 16 miles northeast of Clarksville, moving southeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Hector... Dillen... Broomfield... Solo... Bertha... Holman... Devils Knob... Rosetta... Salus... Fort Douglas... Lutherville... Ozone... Long Pool Campground... Haw Creek Falls Campground... Treat... Sand Gap... Hillcrest in Johnson County... Mineral Springs Recreation Area... Simpson... PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding.
