Issued: 4:39 AM May. 8, 2026 – National Weather Service
...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS CANCELLED... * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...East facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated trade swell, reinforced by a trade-wind surge caused by the pressure gradient between Tropical Storm Hagupit (05W) to the south-southwest and the subtropical ridge is producing a high risk of rip currents along east facing reefs. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&
