Active Weather Alerts

Small Craft Advisory
Issued: 6:14 PM May. 7, 2026 – National Weather Service
...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM CHST THIS
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...East winds around 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt and seas
7 to 10 feet.

* WHERE...Marianas Coastal Waters.

* WHEN...Until 5 PM ChST today.

* IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated trade swell and wind waves,
reinforced by the trade-wind surge caused by the pressure
gradient between Tropical Storm Hagupit to the south-southwest
and the subtropical ridge to the north, will maintain elevated
seas hazardous to small craft through this afternoon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller
vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions.

Rip Current Statement
Issued: 6:04 PM May. 7, 2026 – National Weather Service
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CHST THIS
AFTERNOON...
...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8 to 10 feet in the surf zone
and dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE...For the High Surf Advisory, north facing reefs of the
Marianas. For the High Rip Current Risk, north and east facing
reefs.

* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 4 PM ChST today. For
the High Rip Current Risk, through Sunday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best
swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Elevated trade swell, reinforced by a
trade-wind surge caused by the pressure gradient between Tropical
Storm Hagupit (05W) to the south-southwest and the subtropical
ridge to the north, is producing a high risk of rip currents
along north and east facing reefs, and hazardous surf along north
facing reefs. Although the primary swell component is easterly,
the small northerly swell energy, in addition to swell wrap-
around effects, is sufficient to maintain hazardous surf of
9 feet along north facing reefs.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers
should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against
the current. If able, swim in a direction following the
shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave
for help.
