High Surf Advisory
Issued: 6:19 PM Jan. 25, 2026 – National Weather Service
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CHST THIS EVENING... ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8 to 11 feet and dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...West and north facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 6 PM ChST Monday. For the High Rip Current Risk, through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Northerly swell continues to produce hazardous surf and a high risk of rip currents along west and north facing reefs. Surf will decrease slightly along west and north facing reefs today as northerly swell subsides and northeast trade swell becomes the primary swell. This may allow for surf and rip risk to fall below hazardous levels along west and north facing reefs by this evening and begin to increase surf along east facing reefs. However, another pulse of northwest to north swell looks to arrive around Tuesday, possibly causing surf and rip risk to increase to hazardous levels along west and north facing reefs around midweek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&
