Freezing rain is occurring over some areas. Locations: the Avalon and Bonavista Peninsulas. Freezing rain duration: 8 to 18 hours. Total freezing rain amounts: 5 to 15 mm, highest over elevated terrain. Time span: ending this afternoon. Remarks: Freezing rain is expected to be most persistent over higher elevations, while precipitation will fall as rain along parts of the coast where temperatures are expected to be slightly milder. ### Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery. Local utility outages are possible. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
