Issued: 4:28 PM Dec. 22, 2025 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected.

What: Winds southeast 70 gusting to 90 km/h.

When: Late this afternoon to early this evening.

Where: Metro Vancouver - southwest including Richmond and Delta, Metro Vancouver - southeast including Surrey and Langley, Southern Gulf Islands and Sunshine Coast

Remarks: A frontal system will move across the Inner South Coast today bringing strong winds to areas near the water.  Winds are forecast to rise to southeast 70 gusting to 90 km/h late this afternoon over southern sections of Metro Vancouver near the Strait of Georgia, especially Tsawwassen and Boundary Bay. Southeasterly winds of 70 gusting to 90 km/h are also expected for the Southern Gulf Islands and the Sunshine Coast. 

Winds will ease early this evening will the passage of the front.
