A combination of significant snowfall, ice pellets, freezing rain, and strong winds is likely.

Locations: central, western and northern Newfoundand.

Potential snowfall: 15 to 25 cm, except 35 cm or more over higher terrain along the west coast.

Potential freezing rain duration: 6 to 8 hours.
Potential freezing rain amounts: 5 to 15 mm.

Potential wind gusts: easterly 50 km/h, except near 80 along parts of the west coast prone to downslope enhancement.

Time span: early Thursday morning until Thursday evening.

Remarks: A developing weather system appears likely to bring adverse winter weather to the region. The exact track of the system is uncertain, but the potential exists for significant snowfall over some locations. Precipitation is expected to begin as snow, with significant accumulations possible, before transitioning to ice pellets or freezing rain. The timing of the transition is uncertain at this time.
