Yellow Warning - Winter Storm

Winter storm continues today. What: Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm. Reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow. When: Ending late this afternoon or this evening. Additional information: Snow, at times heavy, will continue to affect the area today. Northerly winds gusting 50 to 60 km/h are resulting in blowing snow. The combination of heavy snow and blowing snow may result in near zero visibility at times. The highest snowfall amounts are expected for areas north of Highway 17 where total accumulations may exceed 30 cm locally. Conditions will improve beginning late this afternoon near the Ontario-Manitoba border, and from west to east through this evening. ### Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Road closures are possible. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. Yellow Warning - Extreme Cold

A period of very cold wind chills is expected. What: Wind chill values near minus 40. When: Overnight into Friday morning. ### Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter. Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
