Severe Thunderstorm Watch
Issued: 12:27 AM Jun. 14, 2025 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
Thunderstorms continue in central Alberta and will move to the northeast through this evening. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe, producing large hail, heavy winds and locally heavy rainfall. These thunderstorms will weaken later this evening. ### Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles. Large hail can cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@ec.gc.ca, call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on X using #ABStorm.
Special Weather Statement
Issued: 11:26 PM Jun. 13, 2025 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
Conditions continue to remain favourable for the development of funnel clouds early this evening. ### These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado. If conditions become more favourable for the development of landspout tornadoes, watches and warnings will be issued by Environment Canada. Landspout tornadoes do not usually cause significant damage but can still be dangerous. They can be strong enough to topple trees, damage roofs or toss debris short distances. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@ec.gc.ca, call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on X using #ABStorm.
