Orange Watch - Severe Thunderstorm

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. What: Wind gusts up to 110 km/h. Ping pong ball sized hail. Heavy rain, possibly exceeding 40 mm. When: Beginning early this afternoon, possibly continuing into the overnight hours. Additional information: Thunderstorms are expected to approach from Michigan this afternoon. An initial round of thunderstorms is possible early this afternoon. The potential for thunderstorms will then continue for the remainder of the afternoon into the evening and possibly overnight. ### Utility outages are possible. Significant damage to property, buildings and trees is possible. There is a risk of serious injury. Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain. Orange Warning - Heat

A long duration heat event continues. For some areas, this is the first heat event of the season. What: Maximum temperatures of 31 to 35 degrees Celsius, and potentially up to 37 degrees Celsius for some areas. Minimum temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees Celsius. When: Continuing through Friday, and possibly into the weekend. Additional Information: The hottest days are expected today through Thursday, with maximum temperatures of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius expected. Minimum temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees Celsius will provide little relief from the heat. Conditions are favourable for the development of squalls with wind gusts up to 55 knots, frequent lightning, hail and poor to very poor visibility in thunderstorms heavy at times. Thunderstorms over Michigan are expected to track over the area starting early this afternoon.
