Yellow Warning - Extreme Cold
Issued: 2:27 AM Jan. 25, 2026 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
Gusty winds and cold temperatures will combine to produce hazardous wind chills. Locations: central and coastal Labrador. Wind chill values: -37 to -42. Time span: Sunday morning until Monday morning. Remarks: A west to northwesterly flow of Arctic air will bring a period of very cold wind chills. A moderating trend is expected to follow later Monday as winds begin to ease. ### Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter. Cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
