Special Weather Statement
Issued: 6:54 PM Mar. 9, 2026 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
A combination of snow, ice pellets, freezing rain, and rain is expected. Time span: Wednesday afternoon until Thursday afternoon. Potential freezing rain duration: 10 to 18 hours. Potential freezing rain amounts: 5 to 15 mm, possibly higher. Remarks: A low pressure system is expected to bring a variety of wintry precipitation that will likely affect the region on Wednesday into Thursday. There remains some uncertainty in the exact track of this system but the likelihood of a prolonged period of freezing rain with significant ice accumulations continues to increase. A transition to rain is expected by midday Thursday. Accumulations of ice may create slippery and hazardous travel or walking conditions. Ice buildup on trees and utility infrastructure may cause damage or outages. Plan ahead in case schools or scheduled activities are cancelled. Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid the most adverse conditions. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
