Smoke from the Prairies wildfires is causing poor air quality and reduced visibilities today. People most vulnerable to the effects of air pollution on health, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should avoid strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms. ### During heavy smoke conditions, everyone’s health is at risk regardless of their age or health status. Limit time outdoors. Reschedule or cancel outdoor sports, activities and events. You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance. Hot and humid weather What: The combination of high temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius and high humidity levels will give humidex values near 40 on Sunday afternoon. Conditions will remain hot and humid through Tuesday; it will be particularly uncomfortable at night with lows remaining above 20 degrees Celsius. When: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Where: Southern Quebec. ### Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
