Special Weather Statement
Issued: 9:29 PM Aug. 24, 2025 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
A long duration heat event is expected over the next 7 days. Daytime high temperatures between 29 to 33 degrees Celsius are expected beginning today for communities over central and northern Alberta, and will expand to include portions of southern Alberta starting on Monday. Overnight low temperatures ranging between 9 to 13 degrees will offer some relief from the heat. However, because the event is expected to last for 5 to 7 days, there is a concern that the effects of the heat could build up over time. Extreme heat can affect everyone's health. Watch for signs of heat exahustion in yourself and others. Signs may include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue. Heat warnings may be expanded in the coming days as the event unfolds. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
