Wintry weather is expected this weekend. Locations: western, central, and northeastern Newfoundland. Snowfall (tonight into Saturday morning): 5 to 10 cm. Snowfall (Sunday afternoon into Sunday night): near 15 cm, with higher amounts possible over elevated terrain. Remarks: Two weather systems will bring accumulating snow this weekend. The first, arriving tonight, will produce relatively modest snowfall before tapering off by Saturday morning. The second system, affecting the region Easter Sunday afternoon through Sunday night, will bring a more significant round of snow, followed by a brief period of ice pellets and freezing rain. Precipitation will then change to rain showers as temperatures rise. Snow accumulation may make travel slow or hazardous. Roads and walkways could become slippery and difficult to navigate.
