Issued: 9:19 AM Feb. 2, 2026 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
Poor visibility in blowing snow continues.

Locations: Burgeo - Ramea. 

Maximum wind gusts: northeasterly 80 to 100 km/h. 

Time span: continuing until near noon.

Remarks: Strong winds combined with fresh snowfall is causing widespread blowing snow, especially inland and over higher terrain. Conditions will improve this afternoon as temperatures rise just above zero.

Travel will likely be hazardous due to near-zero visibility.

Blowing snow advisories are issued when widespread poor visibility in blowing snow is expected.

Higher than normal water levels are expected or occurring.

Locations: Isle aux Morts to Francois.

Time span: this morning. Most significant near high tide.

Maximum water levels: exceeding high astronomical tide, with water inundating vulnerable sections of coastline.

High tide: 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.

Yellow Warning - Storm Surge
Issued: 8:56 AM Feb. 2, 2026 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
This warning is in effect for parts of the coast due to the following hazard(s): High storm surge. Higher than normal water levels. 

Locations: south coast of Newfoundland from Cape Ray to Francois.

Time span: this morning. Most significant near high tide. 

Maximum wave heights: 3 to 5 metres, breaking upon approach to shore.

High tide: 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. 

Remarks: A peak in storm surge coinciding with high tide will drive water beyond its usual reach, exceeding the highest astronomical tide.

Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to flooding and/or debris, such as driftwood and rocks. Properties in coastal locations will likely be affected by spray and wave overtopping.

Coastal flooding warnings are issued when high water levels pose a threat to coastal regions due to tides, storm surge and/or waves.
