Special Weather Statement
Issued: 1:24 PM May. 11, 2025 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
An abrupt change to wintery weather to finish the weekend and start next week. Locations: western and northern Newfoundland. Time span: later today until early Monday morning. Potential snowfall: generally 2 to 5 cm with locally 10 to 15 cm over higher terrain. Peak wind gusts: northwesterly 60 to 80 km/h. Remarks: Following rain and mild temperatures, winds will shift to the northwest and temperatures will rapidly fall later today into this evening with widespread persistent flurries developing. The strong winds and snowfall will combine to give blowing snow over exposed areas overnight tonight into Monday morning before conditions improve. As a result, motorists should prepare for winter driving conditions during this time. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
