Conditions are favourable for the development of waterspouts today. There is the potential that the risk of waterspouts will continue into Tuesday as well.

Waterspouts are generally short-lived in nature, typically lasting 20 minutes or less.

Waterspouts sometimes appear as funnel clouds with swirling water visible near the surface.

Waterspouts are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. Under favourable conditions, this weak rotation could intensify and become a tornado.
