Heavy rain is expected today. The ground, already near saturation or frozen, has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. What: Heavy rain with total amounts of 30 to 50 millimetres. When: Late this morning into tonight. Additional Information: A low pressure system is expected to bring significant rainfall to the region today. For some areas the rain may initially be mixed with freezing rain, especially during the morning through the early afternoon. Due to the saturated ground and prior rain events the rain today may cause hazardous conditions due to extreme runoff. There is a freezing rain warning in effect for areas that will receive significant freezing rain. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details. ### Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times. Freezing rain expected today. What: Significant freezing rain with ice build-up 4 to 8 mm. When: Beginning this morning for areas near Sault Ste. Marie and near noon for Sudbury. Ending this afternoon or this evening. Additional Information: The freezing rain will transition to rain, possibly heavy at times, this afternoon or this evening. There is a rainfall warning in effect for areas that will receive significant rainfall. ### Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery. Icy surfaces could be difficult to detect. Local utility outages are possible. Property or tree damage due to the weight of ice is possible. There is risk of injury due to slips and falls.
