Yellow Warning - Extreme Cold

A period of very cold wind chills is expected. The coldest wind chill values will be between minus 40 and minus 45. Bitterly cold air is sweeping southward across the eastern prairies tonight in the wake of a departing low pressure system. The coldest wind chill values are expected overnight tonight into early Saturday morning. The wind chill will moderate late Saturday morning. ### Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter. Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
