Special Weather Statement
Issued: 10:40 AM Feb. 21, 2026 – Environment and Climate Change Canada
Significant snowfall and strong winds are expected.

Locations: eastern half of Nova Scotia.

Potential snowfall: 15 to 25 cm.

Potential wind gusts: northeasterly 60 to 80 km/h.

Time span: Monday afternoon and Monday night.

Remarks: An intense low pressure system is expected to pass south of Nova Scotia Monday night and bring heavy snow and strong winds to eastern Nova Scotia before an eventual changeover to rain late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. Blowing snow is possible on Monday night in areas away from the Atlantic coast, where temperatures are likely to be near or above zero during the strongest winds.

Snow accumulation may make travel slow or hazardous. Roads and walkways could become slippery and difficult to navigate. Additionally, higher than normal water levels are expected along the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia at high tide Monday night.

Plan ahead in case schools or scheduled activities are cancelled.

Make sure snow removal equipment (e.g., shovels or blowers) and supplies are prepared in advance.
